In the August issue of Singing News Magazine there is a feature article about the Crossroads website. We thank Jerry Kirksey for writing such a great article. After reading the article a new customer wrote us:
Until now I have not bought songs online. After reading Jerry Kirksey’s article in the Singing News I decided it was time to give it a try. I found the Crossroadsmusic.com website easy to navigate and to pick my favorite artists from the listings, a click on the album and there is a list of tracks with one more click to listen to a sample. Of course being able to pick only the tracks you want saves money but there are also discounts for getting the whole album.
Having worked in gospel radio I am familiar with potential problems in making MP3 files. I checked out my first couple of downloads and could find absolutely no audio or technical problems. I am impressed with both the site and the quality of their engineers in producing top quality files to download.
I was able to find albums that are not stocked at my local store and get songs right away. I am not a singer so don’t need soundtracks but I noticed a big selection of those as well, and it is easy to listen to a sample (and sing to it) without people staring at you. It is also good to know that if I do accidentally erase some songs I can go back and download them again.
What really made me a fan of this site was the fact that I did have a small problem. They were very quick to fix it, friendly and helpful too. I really felt that a great team was there just to support me. Visit crossroadsmusic.com and get yourself some new tunes.

Thanks Derek for those kind words. We’re glad to have you as a customer.
Popular gospel music studio musician David Johnson was recently inducted into the Blue Ridge Music Hall of Fame in Wilkesboro, NC. Johnson has appeared over the years on many, if not most, of yesterday’s and today’s top gospel artists recordings, a list much too long to list. His incredible musicianship through acoustic and electric guitar, fiddle, steel guitar, harmonica, banjo, resonator guitar and mandolin has been appreciated and enjoyed by scores of listeners. David is also an accomplished songwriter, with artists such as the McKameys, the Kingsmen and the Isaacs recording his songs.
Tim Surrett presented the award at the event, stating famed bluegrass guitarist Tony Rice’s comment that David Johnson was “possibly the best musician he had ever known.”
Other inductees included Dolly Parton, Earl Scruggs, Doc Watson and six others.
David is also a former two-time recipient of the SGMA studio musician award.
Crossroads is very proud of this honor for David, one long overdue in our opinion!
It has been said that remaining consistent is a key element in realizing a long and successful career in southern gospel music. Such is the case with one of gospel music’s most prolific writers and performers, Phil Cross. From the moment that Welcome To Heaven, his first major hit recorded by the Singing Americans, left the pen until the present, Phil has delivered song after song that has penetrated the hearts of people around the world. Now Phil, along with Crossroads Entertainment are compiling many of these great treasures in one collection entitled, “The First 25 Years”. These 20 incredible songs are performed by Phil and many of the industry’s leading artists who are all great friends of this wonderful talent. Phil shares, “every artist that I asked to perform on this project with me, was overwhelmed and excited to share in this 25th anniversary project”. Some of the artists that appear on the project are the same artists that did the original recordings.
The First 25 Years will undoubtedly be included as one of the greatest projects to have been released in years. The recording is in its final stages and will be available September 17th. This will be one of those classic records you will certainly want in your library.

Arden, NC- The Talley Trio and the staff of Crossroads recently celebrated the success of the Talley Trio’s #1 May single “The Broken Ones” with a party at the Crossroads studio and offices.
Radio promoter Jim Stover, along with the Crossroads staff, presented the group with a congratulatory plaque at the special catered luncheon. Also in attendance were Kim and Tony Hudgins from the Spin-N-Motion song promotion company who provided additional support for “The Broken Ones” to radio.
Arden, NC - The Kingsmen bring an exciting new release to Southern Gospel May 20th on Horizon Records. Produced by Jeff Collins, the release, “When God Ran”, promises to be an exciting new step for the Kingsmen. The album offers 10 stellar tracks and includes the talents of such notable writers as Rebecca Peck, Chris Binion, Jerry Salley, Sandy Knight and others. Track highlights include “Gospel Road”, “The Cloud He’s Coming Back On”, and the title track “When God Ran”.
“Mickey Gamble, I and our team at Crossroads wanted to create a new direction for the Kingsmen (while remaining true to the Kingsmen tradition) that could appeal to a wide audience. With the talents of Ray Reece, Brandon Reece, Bryan Hutson, Phillip Hughes, and Harold Reed along with fantastic songs from gifted song writers, the end result is one I’m certainly proud of. I think this recording is one of their very best and I hope it’s a tremendous blessing to all who hear it!, states Producer Jeff Collins.
New to the Kingsmen vocal line-up with this release is new tenor Harold Reed formally of the Florida Boys and returning to the quartet is baritone singer Bryan Hutson.
Although the physical CD will be available in stores after May 20th, the project is available now for digital download at www.crossroadsmusic.com. Be sure to listen for the new single When God Ran on your favorite Gospel radio station.
